What is a chat room?
As the name suggests, a chat room is a place in cyberspace (or, in other words, on this website on the internet) where you can go to discuss issues of interest or of concern.
In this context, “chats” or “discussions” refer to conversations that take place when two or more people type words and sentences into their computers, rather than traditional “talking”. It's a little bit like communicating with someone by fax, or by email, but the interaction and responses are “live” (i.e., immediate).
At making changes we have two types of chat rooms.
- The first is for “public chats” which means a group of people will get together to discuss a predetermined common issue (such as depression, stress, goal setting, motivation etc.). These sessions will be moderated by one of the making changes team and will be pre-scheduled to occur at set times each week.
- The second is for “private chats” which are one-on-one, individual online sessions. These can be organised by you with your psychologist at an appropriate and convenient time. Within these “private” chats you can discuss any issue of relevance to you.
